Arcosanti Lighting Project

Arcosanti L.A.M.P.
This large scale LED installation is housed within the Colly Soleri Amphitheater, a world renowned stage at the heart of Arcosanti, the architectural “Urban Laboratory” in the Arizona desert. Rob Jameson and I designed, installed, and programed this lighting installation together between 2019/2020.
The system is comprised of +10,000 individually addressable LEDs, in 14 sections of connected LED strips, installed in aluminum housing under the steps of the concrete audience seating area, and above the stage. They are networked with PixLite hardware and controlled through Resolume Arena VJ Software. It essentially functions as a large scale, immersive LED wall, so it can receive custom images and videos with live effects to create the patterns, colors and movement pictured in the videos below.
The system has been configured to be controlled manually, sound responsive, by Augmented Reality headsets, and by Virtual Reality programs.
